TDI OZ PRO

Post  outwest on Sat Nov 03, 2012 3:26 am

I bought a TDI OZ PRO second hand , it has no trouble detecting metal of sorts basically rubbish at a good six inches does this mean that it would pick up gold at this depth and does this show i have the settings basically right. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Did you get the manual for basic settings ? If not try Goldseach Australia, failing that do a Google seach there is plenty of info out there. If not I maybe able to help, I have TDI pro, that I am still learning also, and learn a little more about the machine every time out. Peter.

Hi Outwest, Smile I'm no expert!, not that that stops ones opinions Rolling Eyes lol!.....anyway I'll go out on a limb and say if it detects metallic objects of various compositions shapes and sizes at various depths in various mineralized environments its working, lots of variables in its operation like all detectors lol! now as far as detecting gold goes, I believe you should have the same success with gold given the same considerations and restraints mentioned above as you have been having with less desirable targets.

The info sheet that came with my TDI said (condensed)

Sensitivity - 8
Fine GB - 12 o'clock
Coarse GB - 8
Threshold - up until it smooths out
Conductivity switch 'All'
Volume - comfortable

slowly raise and lower the coil, it the tone goes low as you approach the ground reduce the coarse GB knob. If the tone goes high as you approach the ground then increase the knob. Once it becomes difficult to find the balance point between high and low tones go to the fine knob and twiddle until the threshold doesn't change when you approach the ground.

Go dig stuff up!

Which coil are you using? Mine came with the Nugget Finder 8x6 and it is significantly better on a half grammer compared to the 12".
