gp3500 settings?, like to know more

Post  Eureka on Tue Feb 23, 2010 3:04 pm

Hi All,

Like to know if sensitive deep is better then running in normal normal.

This is for a gp3500.

Cheers,

G'day Tim

When I had my GP extreme (bit similar to the 3500) I use to run a 14"DD coil, sensitive, deep and switch to Mono mode, turns the DD coil into a pesudo mono type coil and worked very well for me.

hi tim
i found sensitive/deep for small gold
normal/deep for big deep gold
if ground gets realy noisy the deep setting is suppose to iron out the threshold but i found normal was better with mine so try both and see which one you get the smoothest threshold with as thats what is most important for realy deep signals
signal no more than 2 oclock, can even back it off a little if on noisey ground
tone where it suits you but chasing small gold high tone/ big deep gold lower tone
all metal
run in fixed but ground balance all the time and if running in fixed does not matter much which speed you have the tracking in it just takes longer to balance if your in slow
if you decide to run in tracking i used med tracking and that suited me

remember the threshold being smooth is the most important thing, no use cranking the detector up trying to get the most out of it if the noise it is making makes you miss that subtle threshold change that says your retirement nugget is deep under your coil
cheers
