Thinking of upgrading to gpx4500

Post  yellowmellow on Sat Feb 27, 2010 12:41 pm

Hi All,

In around 6 months time approx iam i will be thinking of upgrading from the gp3500 that i have at the moment to a gpx4500.

Is this a wise thing or should i stick with the gp3500.

Cheers,

Tim

You are having as must trouble working out the 3500 on what setting you should have if you do upgrade to the new 4500 don't you think that you will be back were you started not knowing what setting I should use.

I think you should stay with the 3500 or if you want a detector that you can just turn on and swing then the money you save by not buying the 4500 why not use it to buy a second machine like the 3000 set it once and away you go.

Hang in there the gold will come

I prefer the 4500 over the earlier GPs. I find the new detectors to run quieter and still find smaller gold. The newer detectors also go slightly deeper on larger bits as well. The detector you have is certainly a good one. But if you frequent places where other people regularly visit to detect, then you may find that the 4500 will give you what the other detectors in the area are missing.

Cheers,

I agree with David, master your machine then you can upgrade to a more sophisticated machine, no point on having bells and whistles if you can't use them. Regards Johnny

You only live once, why not spoil yourself a little, its nice having a new toy to play with.Actually I feel the 4500 is the best money I ever spent,it does everything I was told it would.

Post  goldslinger on Sun Feb 28, 2010 2:46 am

why not compramise and get a gpx 4000 they are a heck of a lot better than the 3500 but not as complicated as the 4500
i have the 4000 and last year i picked up over 20 ounces with it not bad for a learner from the other side of the world

..then goldslinger if u had a 4500 u would have found 40 ounces... Tim go with the 4500 and learn how to use it... the Vic goldfiels have been flogged u have to have every advantage that u can get...

I'll drink to that Ray, If your budget allows it why not have the best that money will buy, If it all does get too hard you can always sell the 4500 and downgrade again with a little change in your hand.

I have said before and will say it again, My 4500 was my first machine, a HUGE learning curve for the start, but with sites like this one, with the information available and the knowledge shared by others, it does help and if I found gold in the first 3 weeks with it then the sky is the limit.

Above all with anything 'learn & know your machine'

Everyone goes on and on about how complicated the 4500 is, but if you get the correct settings for where you are going, it all pretty easy. It's when you start to fiddle and change things, that it all goes pear shaped.

Buy the 4500 or wait for the new 5000. You need every advantage you can get on the mostly flogged ground we detect on.
