hiya from talbot

Post  laurie02 on Wed Oct 30, 2013 7:44 pm

hi everyone!

name's Laurie, just got the bug so the wife and myself are going to go prospecting!

used to do this in the '70's as a lad, didn't find much up Warrandyte way, but enjoyed the experience, this time we are doing the golden triangle, using talbot as our base.

any hot tips?...lol

heading out tomorrow to look at the minelab and white detectors, got the Eureka or MXT in mind as a starter detector....any advice would be helpful!

anyways.....hi!

Hi Laurie,
Welcome to the forum.

Well you pick a very good base to look for a gold.
I like Talbot (and a farmer market is great).

Get one of the Tully books and you can pick plenty spots around.
You got a miners right? If not you might get one here:

http://www.energyandresources.vic.gov.au/earth-resources/exploration-and-mining/prospecting-and-fossicking

You can use geovic site to print your own maps:
http://mapshare2.dse.vic.gov.au/MapShare2EXT/imf.jsp?site=geovic

There is a PMAV meet every month in Clunes so you can catch up with others in your area.

If you looking to buy/upgrade the detector what to get depend what you want to do.Minelab is very popular for our goldfields condition, but there are plenty others.

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask any questions.Use a search section to find any topic you are interested in.
