Photos of my adventures are non existent unfortunately Digginerup because of the weight factor of even a small camera on top of the bare necessities that one needs to survive in some of these inhospitable places , a tube of savlon and electrolyte sachets is a far better use of the camera weight .

C'mon gaz
How many of us that go prospecting .
Especially for 21 years, internationally or nationally
Have no photos
We all like eye candy
Don't be shy   Wink
Anyway welcome .
And what fisher detector is your main tool ?
I'm guessing its vlf  Very Happy
How did it perform in wa ?
And how did it handle the highly mineralised ground in vic
And other places also ?
Do you think we have the most highly mineralised
And fluctuation ground .
Or did you come across worse ground over seas?
I suppose my next question would be
How did you set up your fisher to run
Quitly over those different ground types ?
Sorry if I'm bombarding you
I'm always curious , when someone's using a detector other than A pi
At settings and how they get there machine
Purring !
Especially someone with your vast experiences
As I've never been overseas .
Only watched you tubes .
I've only been out of nsw once and that was to Victoria !
So I havnt experienced much else

Hi lbgbreamer

There is hot , mineralised ground all over the world not just Australia .My detecting style is more of a calculated one , rather than aimless swinging for hours on end hoping to jag a lump I am looking for faults and quartz veins within those structures . I might only detect 10 square metres in a day for example once I have located an area that could likely host a primary deposit .
I hope this makes sense
The fisher goldbug2 is an incredibly sensitive machine and while it can be a noisy SOB it suits me for I know its capabilities .

Thanks gaz
Sounds like you do have a calculated plan  Very Happy
The gold bug 2 is a good machine !
But like any other vlf
Doesn't like the high mineralised ground !
In hot ground with my gmts
I run my sat hot and my gain low and also compensate
We're i can with either a positive or neg ground balance !
To cope and it still doesn't cope great !
But you can decipher the targets from the
Warble of the threshold fighting with the hot ground .
Especially when concentrating on small areas !
How do you go about calming your gb2
In those situations ?
What sort of depths are you getting in high mineralised ground
On different sized nuggets ?
What other detectors have you owned and used in your
Time detecting ?
That made you settle with the gold bug 2.

Well I guess all I can say to answer you is that I know the gold bug well having used it for years and , for me it finds gold and I didn't need to sell a kidney to buy it .
Before the goldbug I was using a loupe ,dolly and dish .

Do you think I should update my detector ?

Not at all  Very Happy
I think a gold bug 2 is a pretty big leap up from
A loupe dolly and pan !
And everyone is different and likes different things ( horses for courses)
And all the rest .
I'm more interested in how you use it !
Ie
on highly mineralised ground as we have plenty here!
And I find it hard to use the gmt on some areas !
So any info is appreciated . Very Happy

As there is not a great deal of discussions
About vlfs on here .
And if that's all you've used .
You would know it inside out .

Hi Gaz
You don't seem to be doing to bad for someone who says they are in mortgage to the shoulders, and such.

Gaz wrote:Im mortgaged to the shoulders , work full time and would probably get out around 4 days per month . I still would prefer to get the best there is to go over the old patches .
