GPZ 7000 -GPX 4000/4500/5000

Post  Goldfields Explorer on Tue Mar 17, 2015 6:55 pm

Well guys time has come for me & a good friend to go out into the hills with the new GPZ 7000
Testing it on grounds a old rich patch of mine that I have covered since 2010 with 3500/4500/5000
I know this ground very well, its good smooth soil where I have previously got many deep nuggets ($35,000 plus)
With a whole selection of different size nuggets 'At the beginning my 3500 had located a deep nugget at
23 Gram /2 foot ' /24 Gram also on the bedrock surface also around the same depth.

Testing is what I love to do knowing how can I achieve the best results that I can with what ever detector I have
In my paw's but yet still my best is the GPX -4000 even today I can hit down at 14 inches deep in mild ground - 2 Gram target
And I do own 4500's & 5000's and done many tests so with( what I have done to my 4000) gains me the best results
Also the 4000 is a very stable working detector how I operate the machine over varied grounds I reach for my 4000 that I can trust
Every time and I must say that I do own a heap of coils for every job'

I will be more than happy to put this GPZ 7000 to the test up against the GPX''s to finally see how it preforms (Myself)
I will also video our tests to keep as a guide for our record, as I believe my patch I have been over it for years
If the GPZ 7000 does make contact with a nugget I will be the first to say and own up 'Its a beauty '
I am looking forward to see the all new GPZ in action with my own eyes and ears ' I will throw a few posts after
Tomorrow if anyone is interested Cheers GFE

I will also be looking with some interest at your assessment GFE, the more we learn the more we know eh!  Wink , how deep do you think the ground is on your patch? I keep an open mind naturally but I have yet to see evidence of the Zeds deep seeking abilities, time will show.

GPZ 7000 -GPX 4000/4500/5000

Post  Goldfields Explorer on Tue Mar 17, 2015 9:03 pm

Yes it will be interesting as I never say a lot online normally although I detect full time
born and raised living in the bush I can walk out my door anytime and do a full days testing.
I will be looking for everything that is good & bad for judgment , I will be fair without jumping the gun
My patch was a fresh until I set foot on that bit of ground but the old timers did get all the surface nuggets
so I know it was a rich bit of soil and I dug down over 2 foot and the gold was sitting on the bedrock I had to get a
crow bar out to just give it a nudge helping it to pop out then measure the hole with a measuring stick so
its accurate.

In some places you can dig over 2 foot before hitting bedrock so if the GPZ 7000 sniffs out any gold where I have been
I will be first to praise it up.
But to give you a little insight over the years I have taken a select few to my spot with 4500's/ 5000
But me & my 4000 has been the only one to have what I call the last remaining nuggets until the next one pops up
So I will be very happy if some colour appears . I can say I don't like the looks of the GPZ but who cares if it gets down, down,
deeper and down... Even if it doesn't hit nothing I wont rag it to no end '
I will just put it thru its paces finding out if this machine is the ducks nuts compared to the faithful GPX's
Cheers to everyone out there and happy hunting from Goldfields Explorer.

Good luck GFE,

I hope it all works out good for you on your old patch for you and your mate. I will be happy to hear of your findings also.

GPZ - 7000 / GPX - 4000

Post  Goldfields Explorer on Sat Mar 21, 2015 12:14 am

Howdy All '

To start off regarding the GPZ ' It didn't get anything from my rich patch that has already been
Gone over countless times by all the GPX Range, But as I have said before my 4000 has been the only machine to get the last nuggets until the next ones show's up.
I and my mate took the GPZ out into the field to swing it over a small buried target that has been in the ground for many years, 2 Grams of lead down at 10 inches.

We tried all settings that the GPZ had to offer and the sky was clear with only small amount of fluffy clouds
The first thing we noticed after getting the settings right to achieve a good strong signal on the target
It kept chattering, even after we tried to back off sensitivity. but I must admit nowhere like the 4500/5000 does
The tone & signal of the target sounded nice and strong no trouble there ' At one stage we swung the coil over this lonely hot rock
And adjusted it until the hot rock wasn't heard but neither the 2 gram target was completely gone.
While doing these tests, I did happen to video record the GPZ /GPX 4000 swinging over the same target
I think anyone who has good set of working ears can judge for themselves to what they see and hear '
When it was my turn I cranked up my GPX 4000 with a 14 x 9 Goldstalker Mono (Coiltek)

My 4000 was stable without any Inference what so ever hitting the 2 Gram target at 10 inches easy and loud also
To be totally honest I reckon I could put that 2 Gram target even further down between 15- 20 inches and I will still hit it’
I also think the GPZ did a good job compared to the 4500/5000 which I rate the same detectors extra switch’s.
Salt seemed to be a issue getting it to settle down unless there is a secret code to working that out
Over all I hold certain things back with how I run my 4000 or what I have done to it myself <
I won’t give the GPZ -7000 a bad ragging, but at this stage it is no use to me unless minelab step up better next time
At a later stage I will post the video for anyone to judge both detectors swinging over same target
So is the GPZ any stronger with 40%? Well yes I think so compared to the 45/5000, although it won’t
Be opening up the Goldfields again as I think that has been done years ago
Cheers to all and happy hunting……. Goldfields Explorer
P.S over time maybe others will discover and learn more about how to get the better results
So maybe the best is yet to come ‘ and I am no expert with it …………

Post  Goldfields Explorer on Sat Mar 21, 2015 1:28 pm

Just like to mention I am currently editing a video of the two Detectors GPX-4000 / GPZ- 7000
Which will only be a comparison of the detectors where old technology 'meets' new
And you can be the judge Cheers to all & Happy Hunting Goldfields Explorer

Hey Goldfields Explorer.
Like what your saying.
But then i'm biased.
I'm on a 4000 never been able to justify upgrading.
Usually can find some yellow when I go out.
You have intrigued me.
I,m in VIC and tend to operate in pretty standard mode ie sesitive smooth, deep, gain 8, motion very slow etc
What settings do you play with to max out your 4000?

Thanks for posting OP, looking forward to your further posts.

Has anyone out there tried the GPZ in the Pilbara? And if so, how was it?

Heyy Guys

Post  Goldfields Explorer on Mon Jun 01, 2015 1:48 am

Yeah sorry about the longgggggg delay on video
but since then, so much has gone down with repairs and away detecting
The video as I said is not meant to rag any Minelab 'So I seen a lot more of the GPZ-7000 in the field
However my mate I hang out with hit a 42 gram nugget only down about 1 foot 'Ground conditions
wasn't friendly being mineralized although he said it was a clear signal, but I didn't get a chance to swing my
4000 over it until it was already half dug ' some days after I had a swing around that spot without gridding
I thought it was another Lone Wolf ,Anyhow my mate persisted again so he did retrieve another few small ones
that were hidden , At this time I am still half convinced until I see real proof with saying that maybe it can pull
nuggets out of "some" hard ground where it might be able show true colour's

At the time its still not easy making a full judgment as I want to be fair, some old burnt out patch's I have been working cleaned
out by my 4000 the GPZ got nothing extra which could mean nothing was left to get or was missed again
I still want to do a complete depth test on both detectors to see the results ' I have been so busy with repairs Quad
I snapped axle out in the bush had to walk 3 kms home carrying 2 detectors plus many coils ,AG Bike Rebuilding the clutch plates
Ok well I will try to put video up tomorrow, Happy Hunting To All Cheers Goldfields Explorer
