Only for the USA at this stage, and at $2699 in usa or about $3700 aussie, its a bargain price, Minelab must have found a shed full somewhere. Laughing

Either they found a **** load of old stock somewhere or they whipped up a batch of these to raise some desperately needed cash.

As the gold price drops......

It is for real - and you get an extra 15" mono coil.

http://forums.nuggethunting.com/index.php?/topic/11573-minelab-gpx-4500-now-available-again-from-robs-detector-sales/

Great news for new buyers. Maybe ML set the tax on gold a bit high, all things considered.

I did a little checking

Post  lytle78 on Sun Aug 02, 2015 12:23 am

I guess that this will be an ongoing thing. Apparently the African demand for the 4500 a few years ago caused them to keep producing it. Apparently the current retail price in Africa is $1800 USD.

Hi Iytle ,
Have you any more information on that price please ?
Could it be the counterfeit models ?

Price

Post  lytle78 on Sun Aug 02, 2015 1:09 am

The best way to check it out would be to contact their dealers in Africa, they are on the Internet.

My information is seceond hand, but I have good reason to trust the source since they are in the trade.

Please check it out.  A phone call to Africa these days only costs pennies.

If I'm wrong, no big deal, the price in the U.S. Speaks for itself.  Hope you folks get the same offer.

I saw it here first.

This kind of makes selling a used GPX difficult, but as Louis XV said "Après moi - le deluge". Manufacturers need to sell new machines - really need to do that.

Apparently they were still making them in Ireland then in Malaysia for the Sudan market (not available in Australia or the USA)? Might be leftover stock from either Ireland or Malaysia & if they have allowed sales in the US we might see some here?

Yes they are back from the 17 of this month price is $3200 new with 15 inch coil its just total f--- up for 2nd hand machine. dealers who have traded them in on new machine now have been bitten in the arse once again way to go minelab, and the 5000 will still stay the same price but its up to the dealer to drop the price and lose he,s or hers margin on them Mad

Goldminer, are you saying that we'll be able to buy a brand new 4500 from an Oz dealer from the 17th of this month for 3200 bucks?
I'm not after one,but if i'd just bought a used 4500 for more than this,i wouldn't be a happy camper Sad

Would these machines be the overflow from the African market that didn't sell? V19

Hi sharkbait yes as from the 17 you can buy a new machine for $3200 i fell for the people how have just payed good money for one and after the 17th there machine will be worth $2300 to $2500 at most and any older machine a lot less, But think of the dealers who now have just lost a lot more on trade in Crying or Very sad and have to sell them at a lot less then bought for , just remember the 7000 is buy first machine with a lot less margin in them .The new 4500 are been remade not old stock Surprised

Geeze ML need to get the **** together and try and keep the goal posts in the same place. They would be better of crushing a back log of machines than sell them at that price and piss every one off that already has made a commitment to them. They could keep them for African markets ect. As well. Could be all those posts they keep seeing here saying "my machines paid for itself x times over".

5K's will go down in price second hand as well, and SDC's won't sell as well either. I will come run the place for ya's ML. Free 7000's for forum members for a start but ya's still be better off in the long run.

So we're all clear here, is that gonna be US$3200, or Oz$3200. If the later, my dinosaur 4K will be dirt cheap now, may as well keep it, and buy a 2ND one. Laughing (starting to sound like f^@k you Australia Crying or Very sad )

about 5 years  ago, middle east had heaps of cheap 45s around that were xcess to demand over there,I had one delivered to the front door from the UAE for $3700 and at that time minelab were honouring international warranties which they don't anymore. What I should say is they will honour it as long as it is returned to country of purchase, this was purely to deter the local market accessing cheaper detecters from OS and giving protection to Ausie dealers.Good and bad but these days its a global market wth global travellers and it depends where you sit for your opinion on protectionism.
As for selling 45's that cheap in Aus I'd be pretty resentfull if I was the guy who recently bought that second hand machine from me. But the cheap 45s hasn't happened yet and in the past and present weve seen all sorts of great deals in USA that we don't get here, even taking into account gst and $ xchange rates.
Heres an interesting fact, the machine I purchased from the UAE was the consecutive serial number to my other 45 from minersden Adelaide, what are the odds on that. phill

I was thinking perhaps they had recovered the 'stolen' trailers that were on there way to Turkey, but i just figured they were the 5000's, not 4500's.

Who knows, it hasn't happened yet, but if it does, i'll be in the market for a spare 4000 as a back up for the one i now own.

Hear what's being said about recent buyers & re-sellers though.... not good at all. Of course there will be a few sellers grinning large about now with that news though.

There will be a few upset people on ebay today.
Just watched a few selling for more than new price of 3200, and although they might of had a few extra bits. if I had the choice buying on the Internet, I'd buy new every time.

Just wondering if the GPX4500 that's reportedly being rereleased will be a version two model GPX4500 like the GP2200v2 that was released years ago and wasn't exactly the same as the GP2200 or if it will be exactly the same as the existing GPX4500.

Re: GPX 4500 Re-Introduced!

Post  determined1 on Thu Aug 06, 2015 6:37 pm

This is pretty amazing stuff.

I would imagine that if these are those that were stolen, Minelab would have been paid out by the insurer a long time ago.

Perhaps the insurer offered them to Minelab for a knockdown price an they have taken them on with the view to spreading them out thinly across world markets.

If there are heaps of them on offer to buyers in Australia, then for sure the second hand market will be decimated.

Not only that, sales of new models will be comprised and dealer profitability will also suffer accordingly. The saving grace for dealers will be the arrival of the new coils for GPX and a 45 at that price with the new coils is going to look very attractive to many.

It will be very interesting to see how many units will become available to OZ buyers.

In my opinion if these are the stolen ones, then Minelab should have recovered them, crushed them and written them off.

Guys, I really don't think that these are the stolen ones. Minelab did say they were going to have a low end, a mid range and a high end machine on the market so what better way than to complete this that to reintroduce the 45? low=45, mid=5k, high=7k. I think that these will will be introduced as a permanent item, for a while anyway...

Flooding the prospecting world by covering all price ranges, cheap all the way up to expensive, catering for shallow as well as deep pockets, pretty much a very strategic marketing ploy don't you think? Doesn't leave much in it for any completive competition for a prospective competitor now does it? Maybe we should all start buying up Minelab shares again???

Or, there is another detector on the way from a competitor??? Fisher, Garrett or Whites.
Don't say it won't happen, it's only a matter of time.

Either way, it's a good time to get yourself a good machine and get out there.

The Go-Find is a relic and coin machine so as far as gold goes, as it appears they're not stopping production of the 5k, you would have to put that as the mid range Narrawa. The probable thought from Minelab, is to give potential buyers that many options by having a detector available to cover every base, that they wont need to go to any other manufacturer ie cheap relic Go-Find, mid relic 705(?), expensive relic 3030, cheap gold 45, low/mid gold SDC, high/mid gold 5k, expensive gold 7k. What better way to fill in the low end gold other than to re-introduce a past successful favorite that already has a proven reputation with the prospecting community, that will cost zero dollars in R&D as the schematics/moulds/software/hardware are already in their procession from years gone past?
I think it's a very smart move from Minelab, even though personally I will lose a few dollars in the resale of my excellent 45 if I ever choose to sell it, but as we all know, many many operators do this as a hobby and a great percentage of those operators never find enough gold to recoup their initial outlay of the detector purchase, much less the ongoing costs involved, such as fuel, extra vehicle maintenance, coils etc. Still we all do it in the hope that one day we find that 20Kg slug buried somewhere out there, with our name on it...
