Hi All

Can anyone tell me if the new Garrett Pro Pointer AT (orange) will interfere with a GPX 4500 Question Suspect

And more importantly, can you desensitize it to highly mineralised ground, like you can a Minelab Propointer? Question

As long as your "switched on" 4500 detector/coil,is pointing a few feet away and in the opposite direction from your pinpointer, you should have no issues with unwanted detector interference Volcanic.
Harry, you're going to love this new pin-pointer from Garret. For one,the Garret Pro Pointer AT, hasn't got the extreme sensitivity/depth of the new Whites TRX or Minelab Profind, but,it can handle,or if need be,desensitized,to handle & find gold,in highly mineralized sections of ground/hot rocks (just like the Minelab ProFind 25 or Whites TRX),with the difference being,it is fully submersible and able to operate in salt water. It also does not false, when bumped or pushed "lightly" into dirt/soil/sand,nor does it interfere with the GPZ 7000.I carry mine on the side of my prospecting belt, near the GPZs control box, with no detector interference whatsoever, when the pin-pointer,is in the switched off position. The greatest feature I found with this pin-pointer,is that it has higher sensitivity along the length of the scraper blade,(making it faster and easier towards retrieving small gold targets on the scrape, just like the old garret could),but with a little less sensitivity at the tip,for even better/more precise pinpointing of small gold nuggets,in amongst highly mineralized soil.
Now if anyone's thinking, how would he know all this? The answer is simple, for I'm one of the several, proud suckers, who now owns all 3 pin-pointers mentioned above. Laughing Ahh What the heck, its only money hey? Shocked Q35 Now,where's that next nugget sitting,to pay off what I'v bought? Q24 Q35

Cheers gents, Kon.

Thanks for that Kon. Don't worry about the money, the important thing is that you've done a good service for the rest of the forum. Where would we be if there wasn't trailblazers that lead from the front, like .... Burke and Wills,  Abigail and yourself? Cool Very Happy

Ps. When are you going to get the Nokta pointer. It's got 10 sensitivity settings! The forum awaits your input and review.

Nokta pointer with 10 adjustable sensitivity settings? Shocked We hardly ever need to use more than three. Important news bulletin coming through.Due to abnormal, unforeseen weather patterns here in Vic & the wife not easily letting go of that frying pan in her hand, the journeys for hunting down that elusive yellow, have been far and few in-between.Q35 (in other words, very slim pickings Harry) but I'm bound to make my escape soon. Q35

Harry,if one is strictly searching for coin denominations,in a benign low,to free of mineralization or salty environment, stay with the Whites TRX,or the the Minelab ProFind 25. For salt water or mineralized gold field environments,I prefer the new Garret Pro AT above the rest.
I can not comment on the new Nokta, for I haven't used nor compared one to the others yet,but judging from the video, just like the Minelab or Whites pin-pointers,given the extra sensitivity the Nokta has over that of the new Garret,it would definitely need to be somewhat dumbed down in sensitivity,to handle the highly mineralized soil areas,of where we find the yellow.
To put it in layman's terms Harry,I find the new Garret Pro AT,more accurate in response,to singling out small gold targets (say 0.2/0.3gm and above),than what the other 2 above mentioned pin-pointers are capable of,in or on ground of high mineralization.
One has to decide exactly what would their main purpose of pinpointing be used for and in what environment. No one pinpointer can do it all to ones satisfaction, but I can honestly say, that when one is after gold,in areas of average to high mineralized ground environments, using a pin-pointer which has high sensitivity/superior depth, serves little purpose.

Cheers Kon.

Some good points there Kon. I think what's required is a marathon discussion out in the goldfields, in front of a big fire with a glass or two or three of G&T before we can arrive at some conclusion.
