Newbie to gold hunting fraternity in Australia

Post  Mineovermacca on Thu Nov 19, 2015 9:40 am

Hi,

I have just joined the Gold searching (finding) fraternity and have not purchased a gold detector as yet.
I will be based around the Fraser Coast Region (QLD) and visit the New England Region (NSW) regularly. So if anyone has time I would like to learn more..

Any advice in to a strong and robust detector that would be good for a person hoping to do this on a semi permanent basis? I would like to be fulltime..
All comments welcome.. any tips welcome..

thanks in advance.

Macca

Q31  to your new addiction  Rolling Eyes  , what kind of money are you looking to invest in this game is probably the first question.

I have around $5 to 10K to spend and will eventually do this fulltime..
So I guess what is the better type for Gold seeking?
Any tips greatly appreciated..

Willing to do this on a basis of travelling around Australia in future years.. so looking at a long term investment/spend Smile

Thanks

Well....... all cashed up eh Very Happy ...then the worlds your oyster my friend, I would recommend you do some reading on the GPX 5000 and see what you think, you should in this market be able to get a very good condition GPX 5000 machine with an array of coils and spares in the 4K to 5K range, perhaps you would care to hire one and see if it is for you.

Good luck with your detecting, you have made a good choice detector wise, and the rest is operator and areas to go.

Not sure what your after strategy wise, but this is a very good website with plenty of info.

For NSW have a read through this.
http://www.resourcesandenergy.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/363544/A-Guide-to-Fossicking-in-New-South-Wales.PDF

Info on NSW gold fields.

NSW detecting Clubs.

Also another good idea is to join NAPFA, they are trying to get more areas open to go detecting etc.

That should keep you reading for awhile. Very Happy
