It will not be saleable without a charger, so it would be worthwhile letting the Victorian minelab dealers know of the theft and the serial number.

No worries. And whoever stole the 7000, I believe, didn't take the charger either. These chargers are bullet proof, and have never heard of getting a replacement, so if any prospector hears someone ask in a prospecting shop about purchasing a charger or on another forum or FB group, please report them.

I hope that you recover the 7000 Robyn. So glad ML have been notified. I really think ML should incorporate a tracking chip within the circuitry board, like they due in expensive cars or like an iPhone with an app to locate. Be so much easier if our gear can be tracked when we work so hard to get it!!

Cheers

Is anyone running a detector S/n data base.
The information could be recorded on a non internet connected comp..
This would make it easier to locate an owner of a stolen detector when these items are located by police or at cash Converters , Ebay etc.
Just a thought....might not work well

Am refering to ALL metal detectors, not just minelab........Yeah! Yeah! I know; it is hard to believe that there are other metal detectors than just Minelab. Very Happy
Also. The list does not have to be confined to metal detectors.

Minelab do have a data base were they can match each serial number up with a name, so it's so important to register your machine with them especially if you buy second hand so the previous owners name is changed to yours.
I know who took my detector and he even took all my game fishing gear as well.
I explained the details to the police and they agreed with me 100% but if you dont
have clear video footage there's nothing they can do.
My question to them was what can you do these days, you are only good for writing up the reports, didn't go down to well.
So i asume they will lay low with the stolen ltems for a bit and try and off load them once things calm down

you would think this would be possible with the in built gps inside the 7000 anyway.
bit like a iphone etc when they turn on the feature it could be tracked.

The listing ended as quick as I enquired and also the phone number on listing wasn't a legit number
Shocked
