Jeff Unger from Addcolour Passed away suddenly

Post  Wombat on Sun Jan 29, 2017 3:45 pm

It is with sincere sadness that I have some very sad news. One of our prominent supporters and sponsor of the  Laanecoorie Gold Bash  Jeff Ungar has just passed away suddenly yesterday afternoon while out prospecting.
Jeff owned 'Add Colour'  and was responsible for all our promotional gear: flyers, road signs, large banners! He made these from the goodness of his own heart  and at on cost to the Bash.❤️
I'm at a lost for words, but I can truly say I'm glad to have known you Jeff for many years and that I can call you one off my greatest friends.
Jeff was out with one of our other forum members Sean Johnson prospecting when Jeff passed away. Sean was saying that they tried every way possible to save him but he passed away very quickly. They expect it could have been either a "Heart Attach , or Stroke. He was about 58 yrs old.
Jeff my mate you will be sadly missed RIP mate until we meet again. Your friend Bill.
If you knew Jeff or would like to just show your support please feel free to add a comment on this status.

Thanks Jen. I'm OK. But I don't know how I'll go on the day. But I'll have a lot of my mates around me.

Hello All,

Jeff Unger is my father. The news of his death came as a terrible shock to our family, and something that we never expected to happen so soon. However, please allow me to convey my sincerest thanks to everyone who has expressed their sympathies to our family – I’m sure dad would be deeply touched to know that his friends have expressed their condolences in such a way.

As you all may know, Jeff’s love for prospecting goes back a long way. He used to take his boys prospecting back in the eighties, and would even sometimes haul a dredge in tow just in case he found a “deep” gold-vein somewhere in the mountain foothills. There was even one time when he, rather brashly, acquired a 10-inch dredge without having a way to transport it. In typical Jeff-style he welded a back-yard crane together just to be able to move the 150+kg Volkswagen engine that came with it; but, of course, the crane snapped! Well, it was back to good ol’ muscle power then. Needless to say, it didn’t get much use after that.

Anyway, I’m sure you all have a great deal of anecdotes of your own to tell. Thank you again for your warm concern and for providing a community in which dad would have felt right at home.

Best regards,

Nathan

P.S. Jeff was 65 years old and is survived by three sons.
