Bring your Boat !

Post  Ash100456 on Sat Mar 25, 2017 10:46 am

For those heading west , Leonora has just had another 84mm of rain since yesterday and it's still coming, add that to the approx. 90mm for the last few days and you start to get the picture of "Bring your Boat "  Usual camping spots at Malcolm Dam are several feet or more under water. Water level is way past the camping/tree line. Unreal.
Cheers

Gday Ash, getting ready for the same scenario here at moment mate, just went to supermarket to get a few things, some very bewildered looking folks there, not a bottle of water or loaf of bread or battery or torch or candle or even a tin of baked beans to be seen, all good here though, fortunately I am a bit of a prepper and maintain a healthy stock of essentials at all times, we could definitely use all the rain we can get but cyclonic winds I can live without, take care up there and stay safe.

Hi Ashley,

We were there a couple of year ago waiting for spare parts to be flown in from Perth, we set up camp on the dam wall just alongside the 50m diameter water hole, the dam was empty except for this water hole that incidently had about 10 yabbies left in it.

I imagine that the ten yabbies are gunna be spread far and wide now, they were hard enough to try and catch before

There's a couple graded patches to the north east of the dam, might keep you occupied for a bit, about 5km away

Cheers, Ron

Thanks for the replies, The weather gods have given us a hammering, I see sunny days start tomorrow so might be able to get in a bit more walking around happening, Very very soft ground at the moment. Thanks flouro for the tip, wont be able to drive until it dries out somewhat.
Yes you Queenslanders keep your heads down, looks nasty is coming your way.

After Bobby the dam wall was the railway line south of Gingers.

There were some weird march fly infections after that event.
