I purchased a cam from Cash Conv and it still had a card in it with plenty of pics. Many were of the Out back from the air and ground. Aircraft might have been chartered and I think it came to Canberra.
I am wondering if the cam was lost or stolen and ended up at cash converters.

Hello Adrian, Freds Nugget,
Last time we visited the Ora Banda it had a stone façade at front door and don't believe they would have a XXXX advert above door?
The first two photos were taken on 11/07/2011 and the aircraft on 12/07/2011.

Cheers

Thats in South Australia, probably in the Marree, William Creek area. Think those ruins are between Marree and Leigh Creek.

Yeah I have all of the pic details.
The last photo on the card was taken at the Tulip farm just out of Canberra. The card has a ton of space left but no pics after the tulip farm in 2011. So maybe it was misplaced there and has taken almost six years to show up at Cash Conv...Still with the card in it.??

Yes this cam has been to Birdsville

Bit sad, eh, but that sure looks to me like a recycled stolen camera.
Thanks to some low life thief(s), we lost, amongst a raft of other things, two Canon finepix cameras with cards/photo's not replaceable.
Cops never really interested, still looking in pawn shops as we go around.
If ever caught, the crims get a "if you do this again" reprimand and off they go looking for the next target.
Two years ago but still bloody angry. Such a piss poor police investigation and judicial system we have.
Rant over!!
Mike

Yeah it is a real pain when you loose a camera with the holiday pics.
Have sent an email off to the Air Tour mob that the camera owners flew with. Wrightsair PTY LTD. Who knows, maybe they still have some record of who was on board VH-WRA  for that tour.

Well done Adrian, would be a great story if you found the rightful owners after all these years.

No go with Wrightsair. It was worth a shot. Looks like a dead end but I will keep nibbling away at it and see if something else turns up.
The camera owner/s also flew on VH-TZC which is a Cessna but I don't know who flies it.

The Cessna rego details are here: http://m.regosearch.com/aircraft/au/TZC

I thought the ruins might be the Peake Telegraph Station on the Oodnadatta Track but checked my photos and although similar (particularly the tops of the chimneys) aren't them. Probably in that area.

If there are other identifiers in the EXIF data (camera make, lens, frame count etc.) there was a chap running a comprehensive search engine that he developed after having his camera stolen. I'll try to find it.

Here's the site - stolencamerafinder.com

Unfortunately from the image EXIF data (serial number of the camera) there haven't been any photos found on the internet. This doesn't mean that they're not there though. Many image hosting sites strip out EXIF data.

Jeffrey Friedl's EXIF viewer is great. Amazing amount of metadata associated with the image, including that the hometown of the camera is set to New York. http://exif.regex.info/exif.cgi

BTW, a coincidence is that my pics of the same area were also taken on a Pentax K100D but two years prior.

Some interesting links there chaps. Thanks for that.

I will see what I can find out through the current Cessna registered operator

This pic was taken about an hour before the pic of the stone house, so that should be a clue as to where these pics were taken

Pichi Richi railway in Quorn.

The ruins are therefore Kanyaka Station.

This is more fun (and productive) than looking for gold Smile

OK so now I Know who the AC is currently registered to (Since 2012) but I don't know who VH-TZC was registered to at the time of the flight in question
11 Jul 2011.
Even if I track it through CASA it is very likely that the previous registered operator would no longer have flight records and pax list for that date and time.
Do Civi flight plans include passenger details?

Must be something to do with our name. Does Adrian mean "tenacious" in Swahili??

Here's the previous owner:

Reg: VH-TZC
Manu: CESSNA AIRCRAFT COMPANY
Type: P172D
CN: P17257188
Owner: COX, Alistair
Address: SOMERVILLE, VIC
Date Registered: 19 January 1978

Not sure how that helps but there it is.

Regards

Adrian

Hmmmmmmm???

Thanks. I will see where that info takes me.
I am not sure what effects a name has on a person and ours is a good one, but like a Tassie Devil, once I get a grip on something I don't let go easily.

This is the Cessna at the time of the flight in 2011.
