Another Fake gpx5000 on ebay

Post  Mechanic on Mon Apr 24, 2017 9:33 pm

Hi Guys,

Just want to let you all know that there is a fake gpx5000 being sold by the seller bucksaint44 on ebay ending tomorrow.
Currently the price is at $3555. Someone is going to get ripped big time!
If you have bid on this detector or know someone who has, don't pay for it!
Spread this around the other forums too please.

Going to hit the report button now, but ebay never gives 2 freaking rats about it, as long as they get their commission Rolling Eyes

Thanks Mechanic, T06  I am not in the market myself, but some poor b**tard will probably get stung, maybe not if enough word gets out,  T10  what makes it look fake to you?

Coil socket(nut on inside), ground balance plug, lack of strain relief on the coil plug. Shiny silver harness.
And that is all I need to see to know it is a fake.

If I was the seller I wouldn't be accepting pick up! It could end up wrapped around his head! Laughing

Cheers Mick

One of the greatest problems with these fake detectors is that they never get thrown in the bin and taken out of circulation, they just get sold on over and over again, the buyer tries it out and when they find out its no good and they were ripped off with a dud, then its whacked back on ebay or gumtree, and its most likely that the person selling this at the moment was ripped off and probably know it so he/she has made a conscious decision to unload their misfortune on to a stranger, they should when caught be charged with fraud, and maybe ebay and gumtree fined as well, as they are far too slow to remove items that are reported anyway, it might encourage them to lift their game.

If you get caught with buying a dud you can do something about it, also when you purchase any item make sure you get as many personal details of the seller as you can as it will all be supporting evidence to hand over to the police.

I've noticed on the batteries just below where Minelab is written on the front "Lithium iron" is printed very finely on the genuine batteries but the fakes have thicker print.
