Just been reading through the brochure etc.  I see the Xchange2 software is NOT compatible with the new software upgrade (WTF). Evil or Very Mad  Too bad for those that log the nugget finds and want to download them like I do.  I hope they get a fix for this oversite real quick or I won't be happy. Sad

Just wondering with this new upgrade/update,  as it reads that it gives more filtering and better salt performance and also quieter on high mineralization, if you will then loose some depth?   Could it be just dumbing it down a tad?
Just putting it out there.

G'day All,

Well I've just been outside and given the new update a run (make sure you don't forget your favourite settings) and all is good, I didn't go right through the menus, once I got the WM12 reconnected to the GPZ, yep all settings have to be reset, all worked out fine. Very Happy I will give it a good workout tomorrow and report back to you all tomorrow night.

Thanks MineLab for the New Updates. T06

Cheers.

Harry if you have a printer with a USB connection, the cable will likely be the same.

The USB specification has provisions to withstand short-circuits, so you'll not do any harm so long as Minelab followed the spec, and I'll bet they did.

Just a note.
Make sure your coil is connected.
My 7 is broken down and packed up ahead of a long drive.
Reeds said it should be ok to update without putting the
detector back together.
The 7 keeps turning itself off saying 'no coil detected'

I  did the update yesterday arvo,  and it does allow you to run on the noisy laterictic soils over here in WA, but at the cost of a chattery threshold at the sensitivity level I usually use ( 18 ).
Tried 14 and still chattery, but there is no question that the update works.
Will try a lower gain today and see how it goes.
Cheers,
Rick

G'day Detrack

Which part of the new upgrade did you have active, "Locate Patch" or "Salt" or "X" as in same as before upgrade. Basically 2 new "filters" for noisy ground and the X which is back to square 1, and the inbetween ground balance which has one part of ground balance turned off and the other part still tracking, a bit like a 4500 or 5000 in tracking mode I guess.

With the 3 bits you found did you switch between modes and compare the undug targets ?

The part I don't like is non compatibility with the xchange2 software as I use this to download nugget finds so hopefully it won't be to long before they get this sorted.

Hi Dave

Locate Patch and did switch between on and off and lot better on as the ground around the target is very quiet with locate patch on making it more define target .

Only small bits 3=1grm but were deep down and found in general mode.

Re: New Update for the GPZ7000 avail Now !

Post  Mike54 on Tue Jul 04, 2017 9:21 pm

G'day All,

We went out for a few hours this afternoon and the first thing I noticed was, it ran a little bit jittery than normal.  I had it set in the Locate Patch setting, with all my other settings how I normally have them set at.  The other thing I noticed was you could swing the coil at a slightly faster speed than I normally would and I was pinging tiny bits of rusty metal and those tiny bird shot, which I usually need to slow right down and have to concentrate very carefully just to hear them.  I didn't manage to find any yellow, but the way I was picking up those pesky bird shot, I have no doubts, I just didn't have the coil over any gold today.  My thoughts are the GPZ is definitely running a lot better with this new version 2 update.   Very Happy

I still need to try it out on some salty ground yet.

Cheers.

Mike.

Re: New Update for the GPZ7000 avail Now !

Post  hoolahoopa on Tue Jul 04, 2017 9:48 pm

best update by far in my thoughts.
found 7 small bits today in areas which I normally bypass because of the whiny groaning ground noise caused by the salt in the area.
the only downside was that in the salt ground smoothing mode the threshold was very jittery almost like someone was detecting right near me, but turning the audio smoothing up to high sorted that out.
was even possible to play around in normal with very little trouble with false targets other than hotrocks.
if your in WA detecting you would be mad not to update as this patch is a big advantage in my opinion.
cheers

Good to hear hoolahoopa, Finally we can get the mighty Zed near some salt ground without going insane. That adds one heck of a lot of area all over W.A. that now comes into the Zed detecting equation. And Normal mode is hopefully going to be more the norm instead of mostly Difficult. ( had a beaut experience with normal mode on my last day detecting in W.A. last month and cant wait to re-try the same spot now with the update ) Thanks for sharing your thoughts
