GOLD MINES IN NSW

Post  Limsi123 on Wed Jul 12, 2017 9:01 pm

I just joined this forum and have just recently grown a passion for exploring old mines, ruins and other interesting things around me. My family live in Drake NSW that is renown for it gold mining in the 1800s I though i would see if anyone her knew of any old mines in the area that are worth looking at

See if you can find a copy of the book "Forgotten Country" by Isabel Wilkinson.
Whilst based on the old goldfields of the upper Clarence river, it includes the areas extending up into the Drake region.

Contact  the Dept. Of Mineral  Resources  and ask about  Mine Data Sheets. I have the book  for Bathurst    and it lists  450 mines of all types.  This includes detail locations.  They also supplied maps at an extra cost , not cheap  , they were $50  years ago.   I also have others for down the south coast.

Check out Goldmaps.com.au they have gold maps of Drake , $20 .
