Gold of many types

Post  Willo on Sat Jul 22, 2017 10:10 am

Hi,

My contributions to the forum have been meagre as I have not been in a position to spend much time down at the gold fields, nearly 700 km away!

However, I spent an interesting week and a bit own at Inglewood with a friend from Tamworth who found his first two pieces of gold, his first 0.92 grams!

Apart from that highlight, my finds were very thin on the ground, but I was happy to snag a 1.93 grammer deep in the gravel at 30 cm with my 5000/14 inch Elite coil. My only other nugget which if I breathed on it may weigh close to 0.5 was found working the scrub.

It was a classic case of the gold been above the ground and around me as well. I was pleased to capture some species of birds I had not photographed at all including some beautiful Red Capped Robins. I have included a shot of the male and the female as well as a shot I got of the Varied Sittella at Inglewood. Unfortunately, the Red Capped Robin is suffering from predators and have become uncommon in many areas. I usually see the Flame Robin in my are as well as the Eastern Yellow Robin.

Ian

Willo, all the photos are magnificent. I love watching the flame robins flying around me as well as the other birds flitting from shrub to shrub in search of food. It certainly is a case of "all the glitters is not gold".

Well done.

Willo - Amazing pics mate, especially in the northern Goldfields you can get very close to the bird life. Lucky enough about 12 months ago to see a pair of mallee fowl. Capturing these photos is important in demonstrating that we are not destroying the bush and appreciating and capturing its natural beauty
