I have spent more money looking for gold than what I have found, this also applies to opal . I would like to tell you this story, I built a 3 inch gold dredge in the 1970's . When it was finished , i drove down to Mongarlowe with my good mate John [R.I.P. ] It was a 4 hour drive from Sydney . We set it all up in the river , floating on 2 rubber tractor tubes. It did not work, I said to John we better go and boil the billy and think about this. The Finsbury ? pump was not up to it. It could not produce enough pressure or volume . We decided to drive home the same day even though we were set to stay for the weekend. I got another pump and the dredge was tested in John's swimming pool BEFORE we went away !

Hi Mike
Were are coming for a month, not 2 weeks, and I really DO NOT think that it is easy to find gold , we are under no illusions, having said that it certainly has not dampened our enthusiasm. We have all our own equipment incl: detectors, satellite phones, GPS wristbands, maps and the list goes on and on , it's not like we have just woken up one morning and said " hey why don't we try gold prospecting today in the furthest bloody place we can get from England " jumped on a plane then landed in WA. We are putting in a lot of time this end before we come to get things right for when we prospect in April next year . And mate, every single one of us had to start at the beginning at some point , this is just our beginning!
