Survey Pegs

Post  Mr Mars on Wed Aug 23, 2017 9:24 pm

Hi Everyone.
I'm sure i'm way off here but thought i'd ask anyway.
I work for a builder here in Perth and often check for survey pegs located in the corners of the block.
I know we are talking about vast vast distances here so the thought seems crazy but in order to mark a tenement area do they physically go and put a peg in the corner of the area in question?
Or are these tenement areas all marked in cyber space?

There are old survey pegs from years ago with GPS coordinates, you can use these for reference if re pegging an area if you want.

Most Mining leases "M" have been surveyed, most Prospecting leases "P" just go by a GPS coordinate unless there is a boundary dispute.

All Exploration leases "E" go by a graticular block system aprox 310ha each, and are not physically pegged as such but done on line, the other "M" and "P" type you need to put a peg in the ground on each corner or change of angle and one peg need to be the datum peg with paper work attached.
