Any Military Buffs out there??

Can you ID this piece of Trench Art match Box holder.
WW1 or WW2,Type of shell  and where was the shell manufactured?
10cm across the end.

Could be made in the USA .  Alco  is a big American  company ,  they make locos .

Yes, I looked up Wikipedia , Alco made munitions in WW 2 and for the Korean war.

It is stamped Alco American Locomotive Co. so it was made in the USA.

What info on the shell tells you that it is a WW1 shell?

OK Thanks for all that info.
so.
The 18 Pr  = 18 pounder
Alco = American Locomotive Company.
3/16 = manufactured in March 1916......So it is a WW1 job.
CF = Cordite Full Charge.
1119 = Lot number.......Although I have not found out exactly what the numbers refer to??
