Dear Members, friends and families.
This years AGM will be held at Heathcote on the 28th of October and is being
organised by our Bendigo branch of the PMAV. We would like to as many
members as possible attend to show we are a strong and vibrant organisation. We are always looking for new members too.
Heathcote has many things to offer, the Historical society is opening for our
members on Saturday morning, and there are a lot of interesting places to
visit. There is plenty of accommodation and for those camping there are
plenty of good spots close to town; also there will be a winery tour on Sunday.
There is water in the creeks for panning and the area around Heathcote has
great detecting for those who get there early and stay a few extra days.
This years guest speaker will be Peter Walsh leader of the National party, he
is very up to date with the problems we are having as he was involved in the
Box Ironbark investigation.
We will be holding an auction this year as we missed last year so if you want
to pick up a bargain or two come along, this year you will be able to pay by card
Here is the itinerary for members, family & friends.

Visit to Heathcote Historical Society, where you can explore the Camp Hill Historic Precinct and the old gaol, built in 1859.
Old Powder Magazine, McIvor Range Reserve, Amber Road, Heathcote. (behind the Queen Meadow caravan park). Built in 1864 to store gunpowder that was used in gold mining and quarrying.
Pink Cliffs (geological significance). Pink Cliffs Road, Heathcote. As the gold mining industry changed in the 1880s and sluicing work began, a particular area started to reveal itself as somewhat colourful. The fittingly named ‘Pink Cliffs’ is an easy walk from the centre of town and now a geological reserve.
Argyle State Forest – Situated minutes from town. These goldfields were very rich in the 1850’s. A very popular area for metal detecting. Take the Spring Flat Road, from the Northern Hwy, to Hedley Dam Track.

Visit the local wineries in Heathcote. Heathcote is the second biggest wine region in Victoria, boasting 60 commercial wineries. Highly recommended, are Sanguine Estate, Condie Estate, Meehan Vineyard, Flynns Winery & Downing Estate. All the mentioned wineries, are very close to town.
