WA 2017 video

Post  davsgold on Mon Nov 13, 2017 5:51 pm

Digging a target, which turned out to be 2 nice pieces in the one hole, hardpacked conglomerate Ironstone and Quartz cobble on a creek bank,

Target was found using the GPZ7000 and the 14" coil this part of the video never worked (which we didn't realize until later), so the first part is from where we used the SDC2300 to help pinpoint the the target in the hole.  Part 2 of the video is when we realized a 2nd piece also came out of the hole. Very Happy

Around half an ounce from the two pieces.  Very Happy

Part One

Part Two

Thanks hassa, Kon. AraratGold, Kev, Nightjar and GemQ for your comments, we had been along this creek bank a couple of years ago, and about 20meters or so up stream we got a 40gram specie with 20 or so grams of gold in it, that was with the 4500 and the ground was very noisy/mineralized, as you can tell by looking at the video, well we got no more from this area with the 4500 back then.

Moving forward to this year, decided to give the 7000 a run there, still a bit noisy but not to bad, running the sensitivity at 18 and HY/DIF and threshold at 27

I noticed a small scrape where someone had started to scratch at something, so as you do I swung the 7000 over it and well you guessed it, a nice signal, I thought, hmmm, a hotrock plenty of Ironstone around here, better give it a bit of a dig to be sure.

Long and the short of it the signal got better and better, very hard digging, had to work around each rock to loosen it and remove it from the hole, it was well worth it. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

cheers dave

Dave/Veronica, Your story reminds me of an event going back many years.
Neil & I were detecting a creek when I heard Neil calling me, he sounded distressed and I immediately thought of snake bite.
Long and short of it he took me back to to a huge hole dug years before on the bank of the creek. Laying in the rubble someone had dug from the hole was a large ironstone specie (25gAU) they had left behind. Looking at the specie it appeared it had been broken away from a larger piece. We assumed someone had found the other piece and not rechecked the hole.
Neil is a lucky bugger has holes dug for him, on another occasion, (as you have mentioned) he came upon a freshly dug hole that hadn't been filled in. Swung his coil over it and got a faint signal. Thinking they had dropped some rubbish he scraped out the loose material and the signal improved. Another 100 mm down out came a 29g pure nugget.
We will never know who, but we do know these individuals walked away from over $2500 of the yellow.
