Wich coil is better?

Post  goldquest on Thu Apr 28, 2011 2:49 pm

Hi guys, I have a NF mono 14"x9" and a NF mono 16" round, wich I use with my GPX4500, do I need a 12" mono round? or 14" round?
I can use any help I can get.
Thank you

Not a question of which you need more which one you want. You have two reasonable sized coils already, why dont you try for something in the smaller size. They work well for the little gold that is more likely to be found.Depends which state your hunting, big open area's WA or pipe clay heaps in the triangle.I see you are based in Melb. Big coils require Big holes.
A question like "which coil is better"good to stir a forum up.You should get plenty of responses.

A lot of the bpc members are using 8'round Mlb and slightly bigger elliptical coils(NF).Noisy coils appear in both brands so try and test a second hand coil before buying. My 45 works well with the 8", seems quiet enough but you do have to adjust menu for different locations.Get yourself a half gr. test nugget so you can test different coils at various heights.

Thank you all for your replay, I will be using your advise, do NF make a 8" coil? because I know that Coiltek do.

The minelab 8" is strongly built, skid plate quite thick, sturdy coil, takes a lot of punishment.
