gold around newcastle area

hi everyone,
i just joined yesterday because this seemed to be an imformative and freindly gathering of people with the same interest. im new to prospecting but very keen to learn and get out there and have a go. was just wondering about places to go within 2-3 hrs of newcastle. im in the process of getting a detector but am happy to pan for now. the kids are so excited to get out there but im a bit unsure where to head to. thanks in advance everyone.

Any luck with finding info on find gold in and around the Newcastle area?
My family and I are more than likely posted back down that area next year, so I'm also keen to know this info as well.
