Whites detectors

Post  Guest on Sat Jun 27, 2009 12:43 pm

A mate of mine 25 years ago found hundreds of ounces with a whites 6000 di. detector. I know many people now who use the latest Whites detector for coin and relic hunting, and they find lots. Whites is no doubt the best coin and relic detector on the market, it has the best discriminator too.
Now if Whites came out with a pi gold machine better than the minelab, we would have real 3 way competition.

It doesn't look complicated, there's very few controlls on it!

I would rate it about 4 times harder to use (without loseing gold) then a 4500?
You really need to understand how the thing works to do ANY good with it. Mad

Have they fixed the GB yet???

25 years ago ANY detector could find gold close to the surface. It was everywhere! Even today's lowliest beach-detector would have found lots of gold back 25 years ago. Russcoit is correct in that the TDI is a pretty interesting detector although it's been out long enough for me to wonder why they've never really caught on here. Whites really DO make fantastic detectors but they weren't designed for our fiercely mineralized soils.

Didn't Whites get into some hot water once a few years back after infringing on Minelab technology? Was it in relation to true Ground Balance? I may be mistaken but I do recall that there was an issue once. Recently, they had to withdraw the name of one of their detectors (the Whites "Vision") - again, due to an infringement, and renamed it the V3 or something. No doubt these problems have hampered their release of something more practical than the TDI.

The Vision is a treasure hunting detector, they renamed it because there's another product by another company, sony or something, called "vision". They renamed it as the detector was already set to be released. Take a look at it, there's a major wow factor to it.

The Vision/V3 is a treasure machine but it's also aimed at gold and meteorite hunters. Last I heard, the color screen was drawing a little too much power and for such an expensive machine (couple of thousand?) it was attracting a few comparisons by owners of the older-model X-Terras who claimed to get better results. I asked Whites about this and they got super peeved! I like how the screen shows different metal signatures which form a sort of waveform graphic and that the user can utilize this to identify targets of specific interest. I'm guessing that the same process is used in Meteorite-mode to identify the iron-nickel composition of the most commonly found meteorite type.

As I've said before, Whites make very good detectors. Not sure they have much to work the Goldfields with here in Australia. Wouldn't mind hearing from Whites users who DO use these detectors in the Goldfields... and what their experiences have been so far.

I have a Whites MXT which has prospecting mode, coin and jewellery mode and relic mode.

It's still a gold virgin but I've found lots and lots of bullets and lead sinkers down to .2g with it. I did 4 hours over at Eagle Beagle today and brought home more sinkers and bits of old lures. I don't think i've walked over a bit of gold yet. Whilst there I was told of a recent find of 4.4 grams at 1 inch deep which I know I would have found had I swung over it.

It's a great detector and very easy to use. Excellent discrimination but it is a VLF. After seeing the minelabs in action at hill end I know without a doubt that my vlf machine is not even in the same class as those PI machines. Didn't have any problems with the mineralised soils except for a small patch I was warned about before I got there and I couldn't get a proper ground balance on it untill I screwed the gain right down.

You'll hear all about it when I get my first bit.

Dicko..
